Bombay to Mumbai Art “I find my inspiration in wide open spaces; the sea, the sky, and in my love for nature and colour. My paintings are spontaneous and intuitive, always working towards harmony and balance. “My art is an emotional expression of the east and of the west, where I have now lived for three decades, in the US. One of seven sibblings, I grew up in the Narmada Valley where my father Shamrao Hivale, worked as a social worker amongst the Adivasis of Madhya Pradesh.  Growing up amongst the Adivasis my life was forever enriched, by there simple way of life their arts and crafts. I will always treasure the experience. “I went to JJ school of Art in Bombay, where I spent many evenings watching the vibrant sunsets on the Arabian Sea. These later came to be the theme of many of my paintings, memories of my homeland. “Recently I have been painting in the folk art style of NE India, which is a three thousand year old folk art form. It is a return to my roots. These colourful and playful paintings were a part of my life growing up in India.” —Vidya Hivale Vidya's paintings can be found in many corporate and private collections.
